Computer Stuff
- Anonymous Web Surfing
- Do you see conspiracies at every corner? Is the government following your every move? Are you crazy? Then this site may be for you.
It blocks the server you access from certain info like your ip, browser, OS, etc... I like to anonymously log into anonymous log-in sites.
It drives them mad.
Update: They appear to have changed their free service to god knows what, but on the bright side they have an applet that tells you most of the information anyone can get from a visit.
- Deja News
- I love Deja News. My life would be incomplete without Deja. It is the alpha and the Omega of all useful computer information on the planet. 95% of the time, my searches for computer information begin and end with a search on Deja.
Note: Deja is now owned by Google and is currently known as Google Groups. I'd just like to say that the people at Google are all Saints for having saved the Deja Usenet archive when Deja went under.
- Freeware
- This is some guy's freeware site (which just happens to be spectacular). I am convinced that the future of most consumer grade software is in freeware and open source software simply because most programs can only be enhanced so much, they can only be made so usable. Open Source software like Linux is rapidly approaching this usability frontier. It is only a matter of time and work before it is as easy to use as Windows. When you have a choice between a good free program an equally good $100 program, which will you chose?
- Hacked Computer
- Ok, I lied and it is a very bad joke and half of you don't even get it... but I do love bad jokes.
- Linux ISO's
- God knows getting started with Linux can be intimidating but it can also be very rewarding. I find the easiest way to begin is with a bootable cd-rom with a burnt in ISO. Mandrake is supposed to be the easiest, Redhat has good hardware detection, Debian has awesome package management. I started with RedHat and bumped my way into Debian.
- Slashdot
- Slashdot is an awesome tech news site that gets read daily by millions, maybe even HUNDREDs of thousands of tech oriented people. That said, if I drank I would say that you should take everything you read on slashdot with a Grain of Salt and a Shot of Rum.
- Winfiles
- Winfiles, Download Center, or whatever they are calling it now, is a great place to go to get windows software. Sort programs by the number of downloads, usually what's been downloaded most is best, especially in the case of file sharing programs.

General Knowledge Base
- How Stuff Works
- All matter and energy contained within this Universe is composed of one
pure and undeniable substance. Everything we have ever known can be described through
different permutations of this material. Democritus believed it was the atom, but
today we know that it is really stuff. Find out how it works here.
- What Is?
- So I walk into an interview, interviewer asks, "How would you syncronize three ERP clients using ODBC access to the Sybase server running on the HP9000 over an IPX/SPX network utilizing a Frame Relay system over Ethernet over cat5e given a set of 6 RJ45 connectors? And would you use digital electrical outlets?" I say, "What the hell are you talking about", go home, and look up all the acronyms at whatis.com
Sports
- Baseball News (USA Today)
- This has stats for every baseball player in the major leagues today. It's a good site for following favorite players and teams.
- Kastaways Swimming Supplies
- Kastaways is probably the number one supplier for swimwear in
the ohio region. I know they always supplied every swim team I've ever
been on. Anyways, they've told me that they are going to have an online
ordering system here soon (as in 9 months ago), but as of now they just
have one company page.
Update: This was about 3 years ago.

Limitted hours in the early afternoon on weekends (Summer 2001) Why do these wackos feel the need to change the url of their schedule every quarter. Honestly.
